Do we have rules for this? Seems many ties in the raven track would be pointless, but you can only work with so many stars, hehe. There is a fourth track, a second continent, players without a house... It looks interesting!
Thanks, yes the rules are 90% done, but playtesting something this large is difficult, and honestly have not played through a whole game yet. We'll release the rules once we've had the chance to play it sufficiently, though that may well be months or even years! With this many players, the complexities of testing increase exponentially...
No it was never finished - no point releasing something not properly tested. And honestly, with our crew split up all over the world at this point, I doubt the 18-player version will ever see the official light of day...
Glad to hear that 90% of the rules are done! Very intriguing and starting to make my eyes rolling.
Could you please upload the (incomplete) rules or perhaps the housecard lists first? I think playtesting would be more achievable if more and more people know about the rules, worth a try through pbem. I know finding another 17 players is very difficult, but I believe several among us are ready to sign up several accounts to take over Westeros? ^_^
We are currently playing the 9 player variant on yuku and its great!
If the rules are 90% complete, I believe there is enough interest amongst the various groups playing AGOT to help finish the rules and to begin playtesting 18 player games.
Could what has been already done be posted so that others could help finish or at least have a basis to start a playtest?
Sure; it would be the 9 original houses from our first expansion (original FFG six plus Tully, Arryn, and Targaryen). The additional nine players here are banner/lesser houses: 1 Bolton 2 Crakehall 3 Redwyne 4 Harlaw/Drowned Men 5 Florent 6 Frey 7 Free Cities North Guild 8 Free Cities South Guild 9 The Brotherhood without Banners
Don't know if anyone's still watching this, but if they are, here is a link to a forum where I'm trying to finish the 18 player game and make it playable, with permission from West2 and probably by email or forum. It would be rather difficult to get 18 people in real life.
I think 18 player is a bit too much, it would just take ages waiting for your turn. 9-10 player is probably the most I'd do, even that is a bit crazy. Just doesn't seem practical, also some of the houses like Florent, Crakehall, - who would want to play with them? However I do like the idea of Brotherhood without banners, and Free cities guild, those would be legitimate players unlike say crakehall or florent.
The map looks nice, though its a bit crowded and has a lot of strongholds and castles. I'd be interested to know how long it takes to play it. Good luck with developing this variant
What exactly is with the unlabled and empty scraps of land/sea? Are they mountain ranges or something, which can't be passed through? Or are they barren lands that *can* be held, but grant nothing (in which case, how do you describe the move? I move from High Garden into the scrap of land between Cider Hall and Cockleswent?)
They are roads, which are areas that connect spaces for more rapid movement. Using odd areas like this allows for faster road movement without special rules... it was not yet settled exactly how the rules would work, there was some debate of letting knights move immediately between two areas connected by a road area IIRC.
