Don't let her fool you though - she's a menace to play in Manoeuvre (3-0) and loves to play Age of Empires 3 on the PC. Which, is why I bought this - she's enthralled by the time period.
I've ordered Warriors of God just to play with her after the success w Manoeuvre.
I want to try Hammer of the Scots w her soon as well....
If she plays maneuver well, she should have an easy time with Hammer of the Scots. How old is she? I have been playing some hybrid wargames with my 6 yr old son and he loves 'em. Been playing Memoir '44, Battle Cry, etc.
You may have a budding historian on your hands. The best part is, there are so many great games on the market lately that you'll never really run out of learning material. Caveman , however, may not be historically accurate.
Glancing through the Top Images of 2008 I was like... "Hey, is that one of my towers? Looks like my woodburning style on there...". Looks like it is. How long ago did you purchase the tower? I always enjoy seeing pictures of the dice towers being used. Thanks for posting the pic.
We had a bad first try w Wizard Kings.... so I tried War of 1812.... it's odd, I think the blocks turn her off...
It funny - with her it's about making a connection w the time & people THEN the game has meaning.... (female thing?)
Ha - this is why I have her reading up on Joan of Arc for Warriors of God. Hehehe.
You know, I feel the same way as your daughter about the block thing. I have passed on sooooo many games because I browsed their pictures and saw lots of little colored blocks. In addition to that, if the game has cards with "pictograms" and little or no text, this only increases the dullness of the "immersion factor". Those games start looking like mathematical resource mangagement assignments instead of a game. I agree 100 percent about this need to feel connected. I guess I'm really into the fluff of a game, and the game itself would have to be uber good for me to play with blocks. I've passed up some really great looking war-games because I absolutely abhor the blocks...ugh!
Note: I may be tempted to eat some of my words, as I'll probably buy Chad Jensen's new Dominant Species game. Well see...
