I think it's from a Frank Frazetta painting:

I still get Frazetta and Boris mixed up after 25+ years. Distinct styles. Very different approach to the genre, but I still mix them up.

The confusion comes from the fact Boris slavishly copied Frazetta's work when Boris was starting out in the industry. The superior artist is definitely Frazetta. The sad fact is that Boris' best work was when he did copy Frazetta... when he struck-out on his own with "unique" style, he instead became a slave to his source photographs. In summation, in my opinion, Frazetta = good, Boris = sucks.

The figure is definitely based on the Frazetta painting, no question about it.

Nope, as noted below by someone else also, thats a FRANZETTA! Trust me, Boris pales in comparison... Okay, Boris has some great works, but I'm just a Franzetta fan!

I wouldnt say boris sucks.
He has more money than us both.
But
I do prefer Frazetta to Boris.
Because Frazetta is so much more animated and gritty.
Boris is very nice and clean and anatomicaly correct.
but still absolutley fantastic.

You made me laugh out loud at work this morning. With all the financial woes in the country/world right now, that was a wonderful gift. Thanks! thumbsup
