In my estimation, it would be impossible to supply enough force to a slide without going over the foul line in this set-up.

Not like it's an issue, since you could just say there IS no foul-line with this interesting set-up.
I think a more playable layout with 8 boards would be to have each of the 4 players have a double-length board, though. It would increase the difficulty and skill required, but still be playable.

Yeah, this was done much more for the novelty of it than for the actual gameplay, although we were able to complete a full game. After that we played 3-player in a "T" shape with 2 boards each. Good times.

The shuffle board game works much better if you do NOT set up the tracks like this and like the rules say since the pieces are travelling upward too much. It is WAY better to just put the tracks as close as possible and level (dont interlock them) and leave a small gap, even using only the 4 tracks included in the box it works much much better.

Doing it the way I described, I am quite sure you could reach the scoreboard on the track in the picture.
