For anyone interested in playing on this map, here is a list of the proper names for each province (i.e. A1 is Alaska, F14 is Finland, K4 is Moscow Oblast, etc) along with recommended continent bonuses.

Also, here is a fancier continent bonus sheet that matches the map's design.

Edit from June 13th, 2009: After playing a second full game on this map, I've decided (or, well, the people I was playing with decided) to change the value of the "O" colour group (greenland and antarctica) from 4 to 10. That is to say, "O" is now worth 10 if you can capture and hold it.

Edited to add: Please see file 37584 in the files section for a ppt file containing images of the cards. Many thanks to Martin DeOlden (tawnos76) for his work on those cards!

Edited further to add: For those of you looking for the recommended starting units:
For 2 players use 210 units.
For 3 players use 190 units.
For 4 players use 160 units
For 5 players use 140 units.
For 6 players use 110 units.
Please note that these values are purely theoretical (the map has 5.5 times as many territories as the basic Risk map, so these values are nearly 5.5 times the starting units for the basic Risk game, only rounded to give nicer numbers) and that I have only ever played with 2 or 6 players.

Cool map...cool

But it begs the question: Why on earth would you want to increase the playing time of Risk?

It doesn't increase the playing time *that* much!

The same map can also be used for other area-based games. I've started writing a simultanous-action game with a card-based combat system to be played on it, but I'm not that great at designing games.

manowarplayer - The file for the map is this image. The "original" size link above will bring you to the high resolution file - 8236 by 4000 pixels. That's the size at which I drew the map, so no higher resolution file exists. For the cards that accompany the map, there is a powerpoint (Risk cards.ppt) file in the files section on the Risk page, however it was not made by me. That file was made by Martin DeOlden (most of the images on the cards are from an older revision of this map that I sent to him), and a big thank you to him for putting it together.

Reminds me of that first Risk computer game. It had a map of Europe with hundreds of territories and was fun to play but I do not think it would have been playing with other people.

You've played this version u created a lot of time i guess, so probably u've also created all this kind of rules... is there a file i can reach somehow or u can just tell'em to me here?
