Impressive. I like playing with painted minis much more than the regular ones. Even though it has no real effect on gameplay, it just makes the game feel better to play.
Would you care to make a stab at how long it took you to paint the lot of them?
(It took me about six months to paint my set plus WoD and AoD but that was on and off. I dont really know how long the project took in terms of hours).
Well done regardless.
Painted miniatures definitely make for a more enjoyable play experience. A worthwhile project if you enjoy the creative aspect of the painting (although many do not).
I started the Descent figures in July 2008 and finished up just this month with the last of the Tomb of Ice figures. So about 7 months total time, but with some breaks in there for Christmas and the first part of January.
These are amazing. I've never played Descent before -- do the alternate color schemes for identical sculpts reflect a function of the game?
Yep! Some creatures are "master" versions, which are tougher to take down, do more damage, and usually have an extra ability compared to normal versions of the same creature.
Awesome painting! I am, unfortunately, one of those who doesn't have the time, patience or skill to paint like this. I love playing the games, though! Ed, do you sell any of your Descent minis?
thats just cool i tried to paint some of mine. so i now have 2 primed spiders 1 painted master and nothing else. its not quite as impressive.
Your painted miniatures should be painted to your own standards; not compared to anyone elses As long as your happy with your results; then that alone should enhance the experience.
I consider myself to be a 'speed painter' (prime them, base coat them, add a few colors for contrast, add basic highlighting and then 'wash' or 'dip' them for the realistic effect), but am happy with what I do.
These minis though, make me want to get started on my descent collection. Great Job!
