Hi,
I painted my 2nd edition bots in 8 player colours applying some black/yellow chevron on each one to tie them all together as a group.
Overall they add a nice bit of character to the game.

All the paint I used was from the Games Workshop colour range.
Working from a black primer undercoat.

Simon,

Without a doubt : this is the best paintjob I've ever seen for these robots! Marvellous job, stuff that makes me go : "I should repaint my 'bots :-) "

thanks for the inspiration!

These are amazing! The colours take the thematics of the game to the next level and it might be worth playing. (Yes, actually I'm a bit tired of the game, and I have only played it twice... But with these it might hold on a little longer.)

Yes well spotted, you are right the eye of Sauron was my inspiration for the Hammer Bot.

I have to agree with you to some degree, I find it very hard to play a game with bland components.
I couldn't play my copy of Doom until I had painted all the minis,
All that bright plastic just killed the game for me.

Many games come with plastic minis unnecessarily imo, they just don't need them, a colour stand up looks much nicer than bland plastic,
Take Talisman (fourth edition) for example the colour stand ups looked great and they have replaced them with plastic. blah! gulp Bland, adds nothing to the game.

Not everyone has the time ability or patience to colour all those figures,
Okko: Era of the Asagiri looks beautiful, all colour stand ups.
Runebound (First Edition) stand-ups where very nice and functional. Now all grey plastic,Why?

It would be nice to be given the option to upgrade from stand-ups to minis for those who want them or vice verca.
Would it cost that much more to include a sheet of card stand-ups even when game companies have gone to the trouble of producing plastic minis?

Give your Bots a splash of colour and give RoboRally another shot, it really does make a difference.

That Okko map looked amazing... Never heard of the game before.

I don't own a Roborally myself, but a friend who study in a university far away from my town has one. Otherwise I would defenetly try to colour them up.

thanks for posting your method. I have never thought of using a primer color other than white. I will never again automatically reach for the white paint when starting a project.
