Painted Viper mounted on gw-bases for a better handling. I used bigger bases on some Viper to put the pilot marker on.

Yes!

Also, wonder if you tried the clear BFG style bases first? Did you not like the effect? I was considering using some spare I have, but these you've made look good.

Yes, they are citadel bases in 25mm and 40mm.

First I wanted to take the normal gw flight bases, but I had more of the pins than the bases left. I just had enough of the standard bases so I used them with the flight base pins.

Finding me some of the 40mm bases in my unsorted bag of bases was a pure accident but I recognized the need of putting the pilot marker somewhere.

...an the rest is history

I'd love to see one with a stand for the pilot marker to slip into.

That's awesome man. I wish I had the time and ability to do that to the vipers in my BSG game.

I'm definitely gonna have to try painting and basing my BSG ships, the bases will also help when it comes to finding that elusive raider when it comes to packing up time.

These are the original miniatures which come with the BSG boardgame. They are only modified by myself.

I´m using these customizable 25mm foam trays by Feldherr.

http://www.figurecase.com/product_info.php?info=p9_Feldherr-...

When I removed the original box interior there was more than enough space inside the box.

Close. But I think the secret he's looking for is a combination of Practice and Patience...

No, its just a good glass of whiskey before painting - just to stop my hands from trembling.

(I´m just joking)

As much as you are joking, I knew a guy who could only paint decently after he took a shot of whiskey. His stuff always came out better than mine so I decided I would try this one day. Lets just say those minis ended up being stripped shortly.
