The article was written by a journalist who went to a Magic tournament (in Vancouver) without knowing much about Magic. Overall the article was a positive review - but it was also an honest description of what kind of personalities one might find at these gatherings. If it was mean spirited, I would not have accepted the job. When they asked me to do the illustration, they had no idea that I'm a gamer and that I have played Magic hundreds (possibly thousands) of times. So this drawing is my own personal take on what playing Magic is like. I love the game, and I love the many strange people I've played against.
