Because in the game STEAM you lay connected track tiles as part of the game play. Here the photographer laid the track tiles out in a way that spells the name of the game and you can tell he took the time to shape the letters nicely and pay attention to the kerning. It's a unique use of the game components that hasn't appeared in the game's gallery yet, is consistent with the game's theme and an interesting use of some of the components, and shows a fun attitude with a dose of care and creativity.
Not intending this to turn into a image-modding discussion let me just end this by saying our views on "uniqueness", "interesting" and "creativity" differ greatly.

Useless pic.
Not so. It stopped me from spelling the game as STEEM.

Yeah...but four out of five of the letters have illegal tile placement.
Shure you can ask. It just seems rude, to ask why people think what they are thinking.
Why not just post your own thoughts on the picture
In itself there's nothing "wrong" with the pic, but I'm surprised it was submitted for geekmod. I think these belong in the personal gallery.
... but like I said, I don't want to turn this into an image modding discussion.
Furthermore, I'm quite surprised that a Dane (friendly people) finds a question of elaborating on one's opinion offensive. No rudeness intended of course.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
I'm not saying that you're not entitled to your opinion. I'm just saying that you're wrong.
