The scenario essentially requires Growing Hunger, or at least a lot of promo cards. The base game has only 60 Hero cards, if I recall correctly, and this supplement adds 5. After taking 45 off of it, there are 20 left, of which the Heroes start with at least 4. Even in the base game, there is a good chance you can run this Hero deck out using "Living Nightmare" and "A Town Overrun" and of course shuffling the latter back in if "Night That Never Ends" is drawn.

This is assuming, of course, that the Heroes never search, while the Zombie is playing events as rapidly as possible, which is likely to result in a swift Hero death even if they don't run out of cards.

It's okay if there are only 20 cards left for the Hero Deck, because it's the Town Deck that matters for this scenario. You're correct that the Hero Deck could easily be depleted very quickly, and that's only if the zombies target it with the cards that you mention. However, even if they do, Heroes don't lose by the Hero Deck dropping to zero.

And alas, it is still a difficult scenario for the Heroes, as you point out!
