but i would think the Wii is a fundamental part of their training , all that back and forth and side to side hand motion is critical in preparation for dice rolling in the life time of board gameing they have ahead of them lest they fall behind the international curve ,

i am sure there are secret training camps in russia that have hundreds of sequestered children training on Wii's from shortly after birth to beef up their dice rolling arms so that they can some day declare russian dominance in the board gameing community and thus replace our beloved BGG with BoardskiGameskiGeekski ! is that what you want ?

think of the children ...........think of the world ! go out and buy a Wii for your child , your relatives child , your neighbors child ; the world is at stake , one risk board at a time !

spare the Wii spoil the child !

Ja!
You could have the
Plankton army versus the
SpongeBob army versus the
Patrick army (they don't always get along) versus the
Sandy Cheeks army versus the
Eugene Krabs army versus the
Squidward army.
The ten-army minis would be of the characters mentioned above in the appropriate color.
The five-army minis would be of Plankton's Computer Wife or Gary the Snail or Little Jellyfish or Larry the Lobster or Pearl or Animated Clarinets respectively (and in the appropriate color).
The one-army minis would be of various Bikini Bottom residents in the appropriate color.

Seriously though, I have to admit that when I first moved to China seeing all these world maps where China is in the center and North America is all warped and scrunched up on the right side was really jarring - both visually and emotionally.

Emotionally, not in the sense that I was offended, but in the sense that I was embarrassed that I had never in my previous 24 years of life stopped to consider that map projections were wholly arbitrary and that there was absolutely no reason why the US should be front and center instead of any other country. modest

Crossing borders expands the mind!

Umm, in most world maps I have seen, Europe/Africa is in the middle, simply because that is the "center of mass" of the main continents. I can't even think of any world maps I have seen in america where North America was in the center. I think you are selectively remembering.

I remember seeing maps like that while living in the States, but I do agree, most maps are done with Africa in the middle, regardless of where they're made, since it simplifies "cutting" the edge of the map across the Pacific.

However, I'm not surprised to hear about China-centric maps.

actually i remember maps from school with north america in the middle (especially smaller poster maps ), and thats the majority of maps most people in north america deal with in their life unless traveling some where or looking something up .

its not a question of nationalisim , but rather a means of emphasizing education for regional geography and history , so it makes sense that in China the maps center on asia to emphasize education to asians about asia .

I can't help but think that the map should have a whale and ship on it, and that the players would enjoy the honest tactile nature of wooden pieces more than the plastic in a modern set.
