Those are my custom player mats along with the quickref.zip quick reference sheet from the files section. I'll upload the custom player mats after refining the content a bit more (to totally avoid having to reference the manual).

El-ahrairah (#49949),
This one gets played in one marathon session about once a year. Limiting things to non-greasy snacks is about as far as I can go and still get folks to play. Besides, except for the mounted map, all the remaining pieces are ripe for custom replacement. I've already displaced the player mats. I'd like to try wooden cubes instead of cardboard counters next time. The population track almost demands being updated and anyone with a color printer and some avery business card stock can do WAY better than those low grade civ cards. Only the trade cards are truly high quality (although they bring a new meaning to tiny).

Oh, I should add that they ARE using coasters (raises the wife-friendly factor quite a bit).

It still makes my skin crawl. I can just see that coke tipping over, turning the entire board into a flood zone. Talk about calamities!

Perhaps buying plastic bottles and insisting people make use of the screw-on caps would be a reasonable compromise.

The player mats shown in this photo are available for download in the files section. You'll also want to download the excellent card and technology advancement reference sheets so you'll never have to crack open the rulebook.

CivMats.zip
quickref.zip

However, please note that there is one minor error on the mat. The definition of AST Order on the right side of each mat is incorrect. It should have read:

Quote:
AST Order - Fixed order AST top to bottom
Africa to Egypt

The custom player mats have been updated (to v3). The turn sequence has been corrected and the AST order definition corrected.

Should show up in the files section in a day or two.

What are you thinking, having a Coke can on the table with this OOP game? Game in peril!

Yeah, why not enjoy some tacos or chicken wings with the game too? Maybe put the deep fryer on the table next to the game so you can fry up some mozzarella sticks without having to step away from the game?

My copy has a coffee stain on it. One of those uh, "flood" calamities. Does give the game an antique look.

I don't mind drinks on the table. As long as everyone playing is super careful.

However, with my copy of Civ or Dune, i'd never allow it.

I'm starting to wonder if i should even allow it with Power Grid. My copy already had a coke spilled on the rules and a cranberry soda spilled on a very small portion of the money. Both times, it was cleaned up super quick. Still, PG seems to be a magnet to carbonated drinks.

Many, many years ago my cat decided to use my Civ box instead of the litter box. There's now a faded spot on one corner of the lid where I cleaned it off.
