And so it was written, in the wee hours of Sunday, August 2nd 2009, the beginning of a great torrent of thumbs began appearing on image number 530957 at www.boardgamegeek.com
Here endeth the lesson.
What lesson? The fact that I post a picture of me (oh and the other pictures of my boyfriend & his kid playing too, but no one wants to make snarky comments on those, go figure)..?
I don't get some of the people on BGG. Always a sour comment in the nice bunch!

It was my attempt to satirize the ridiculous attention given to pictures of this type, and no disrespect was intended.
My apologies, and I shall remove the original comment.

gina, I think you may have overreacted just a touch here. UV is one of the most level-headed forum posters I have seen. This comment is clearly intedned as a joke about the general populus of these forums, and how they react to pictures such as this. It is not in any way a negative comment towards you, the OP.
I think it's pretty funny that you act all surprised and offended that this picture got more attention than the one of your boyfriend and his kid.

I appreciate the backup but regardless to my intent, offense was taken, and if I can't apologize for that, then I don't deserve the kind words you just sent my way.
Nobody noticed the glass of wine in the background, carefully placed far far away from the board ! She's a real geek !
Really ^.^ When we play we have one rule too: Glasses away from the game components!
One time a guy kicked some glass and the wine flew all over the Arkham Horror Expansion "Dunwich". But mysteriously after drying all the components none has been left with wine despeckles. Only the table and two other guys were left red.
Anyway it was the lesson to put those glasses far, far away from all our games. Now they stand everywhere - inside the book shelves behind us, at the corners of the room, on the windowsills...
I really understand this glass of wine at the couch *g*
Hey, that's not ME! Sorry, misunderstood the caption. Reference to an old "blonde" joke.
Seriously, nice picture.
Can Small World be played on a small surface like your table, without aggravation?
It works for us but, it was a three-player game. We keep the unused pieces and the unused coins in the box, off the table. Others may want all the pieces on the table at all times, for convenience. Our coffee table wouldn't be big enough for that.
Well, I guess men will be men, when they see a nice pair they will comment on that. But now about the game: what kind of game is it? Is it easy to play? And a general question: how can i upload my pics of my gamingstuff onto this site. Greetings from Holland
It's understandable (but funny and still a little mysterious) why the admins always post these more "well-apportioned" pics on the front page, but then have to take them down when they start getting "too hot to handle". One would think that this inevitability could be foreseen.

I don't think anybody "posts" pictures to the front page. You can either view "hot" or "recent" images on the front page. "Hot" seems to be based on some rate of recent thumbs (or maybe just views?), and "recent" is simply chronological.
This is just my guess. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

You could be right - hard to say about the opaque Ways of the Geek , but I bet it's more than a little likely that there is some Wizard in this Oz who has the ability to take them off the front page if they so decree!

Pictures make it to the front page when they receive a lot of thumbs, which makes them "hot". You can change your settings to have the pictures view recent first.

The pictures are not taken off by anyone, they stay "Hot" for about 5 days before being removed from the queue. And, yes, they are sorted by the number of thumbs.
No, no no no. No, no. No, sir. I don't know what kinda vibe you think got off me but I don't play that way. I'm not that way!
The thing is that Delta males from Americs see a vulvoid human ( often from another country) engaging in activities they themselves partake in, and that they never see vulvoid humans engage in locally. They then erupt in their primal yells of "OMG B00bies" and beat the ground with their clubs in excitement and jealousy.

I didn't know there were BGG admins who lived in Russia....

This would seem to imply that you are keeping track of where all the admins do live... ....creepy
You Go, Missy! Girls Play Games Too! And not Uno or Pretty Pretty Princess... we play Real games.
Gamer Girls are Not unattractive, turtleneck sweatered, frumpy trollesses.
She's an attractive gal playing a game. What about it?
As for Me, I'd prefer to be lookin at an attractive GUY playing a game, but Geez - it's a photo of Someone Playing A Game, someone who Happens to be a girl, cute, dress nicely and take care of herself fashionably. Go Figure! *LOL*
And it's a game I wanna learn to play myself... ~sigh~

we learned this lesson of no drinks near the game this last weekend when my son dumped an entire glass of water around and under our copy of smallworld we were playing!! Very speedy clean up managed to save everything but one point marker.
