Thanks,

Well I'm still at it with mostly foamcore. But I may have to do more kitbashing on this one since building the curved hull is getting pretty chalenging.

More to come...

Max

It looks incredible, but it seems totally impractical.

How are you going to deal with blocked hatches? What about the two hatches out the bottom?

Any way that you could actually flood those compartments, or even set some of them on fire? cool

that is a very neat representation. How is it for playing? Is there room for fingers & stuff?

Yes, the 3D aspect does create certain issues. I think I've adressed the main ones, like easiest acces possible to the compartments. As for blocked hatches, I forgot to set one in a door frame before I took the picture: They where cut out so that I could fit the hatch bit in a door frame so to illustrate the blocked hatch (My next upload will show this). As for the bottom hatchs, those will be part of the second hull (not built yet).

Again, this is an "in progress". I have other crazy ideas for this sub

Hmmm, ironically, foamcore doesn't like water . Maybe I should of though about plexiglass as suggested by Pinook

I've done a bit of play testing with my kids and they love it. It is a bit crowded when several gnomes are in the same compartment but it seems to fit with the theme...you rarely have a lot of room in a submarine

*other* hull? surprise

And of course, getting it all to fit in that tiny box is going to be a problem.

You could of course try this as a LARP?

Then again, when the boat really floods, you may only get one chance to play the game... whistle

Very cool idea. It's going to look good when finished.

Regarding alternative figures, why limit to gnomes? Several manufacturers make metal castings for Sailors in 25/28mm. To me the Gnomes are one of the weak points of the game--their pose, while appropriately frenetic, is rather "topply" in play, and while I appreciate the sensibility in shifting the theme to an inoffensive Fantasy setting, I always think of the situation in terms of a real submarine and crew . . . .

My guess is he's already spending a fortune of time and $$ on pimping up the sub.

Well actually, I'm sad to report that I'm not putting as much time into the sub (at the moment) as I would like to. I've just picked up a freelance design project and so my sub project is on hold . I'll be sure to come back here to post any progress.

Thanks for all the nice feedback. I hope to be able to post an update soon

Regards,

Max
