This picture was created in response to a comment from my last game where the Dwarf was stranded in the mountains since he had no suitable move cards. Greg said surely the Dwarf would be better moving in the mountains? So I set out to discover what is in them decks...

BTW: in case you're wondering the order is Forest, Hill, Plains, Swamp, Mountains.

Thanks very much for posting - very interesting info.

Do the differences seem to make any real difference in the game? Do you think that the differences give any particular hero(s) an overall advantage over the others? (I imagine a lot of that would have to do with where a particular hero decides to travel over the course of the game, but even so, I suspect that - especially in a one-hero game, that hero would need to travel to a variety of places, and wouldn't be able to let the Dwarf focus on mountain areas, or the elf in the forest).

It seems to me that it can affect the heroes movement, but not always.

In the last game I played, the horse rider had little difficulty getting around using Plains cards - noticably so. Yet the Dwarf who was in the mountains spent three turns more or less stuck there, wanting Mountain cards - despite a third of his deck being Mountain cards.

I would like to think that knowing the distribtuon would affect my decisions as a hero on whether to persue certain quests.

Looks like the Ranger happens to be the most well balanced when it comes to movement.
