The box sides - by popular demand. I think I got everyone on the 'birthday greetings geeklist', but I'm sure I'll soon hear if I didn't. (How long did it take - don't ask!)
Wow, I never expected to make it considering I was way too late in posting in that thread.... But there I am 2 spots above the word "geek." Now I need to go and buy that game.
Funny thing is I'm more taken in by all of the other avatars I recognize than my own. It's like Romper Room...or something. Oooo look, there's Tommy, and that's Pat K., oh, and there's that guy who got a thousand thumbs for saying exactly what everyone else was thinking.
"Sometimes game rulebooks are meant to be used as a guide - not chiseled into stone tablets as scripture. If using a specific rule makes a game more fun for you, then it is not only your right - but it is your duty to change it." --Rob Bell
“My opinion is that a game has its own life when published, and is really alive when players want to add their own house rules!” --Bruno Cathala
Dammit - Animal NEVER sits still long enough to have his picture taken!
But it's funny to see how many people I recognize from those silly little pictures!!
West over water I fared bearing poetry's waves to the shore of the war-god's heart; my course was set. I launched my oaken craft at the breaking of ice, loaded my cargo of praise aboard my longboat aft.
Hmm... didn't see mine although I doubt I'd be on it. I think I missed the cut off by like 20 people or something... oh well, maybe for The BoardGameGeek Game revised edition I'll get on it! ... =)
And to think that my cousin Keywood is the reason behind all the Key[insert part here] games... pfft! You owe me (well my cousin) one Richard!
EDIT: Nevermind! I'm there! Right above the "From" in the title. w00t!
Made it! And just to irritate those of you who aren't on the box even more... some people are on there twice! Don't believe me? Search out that Watchmen happy face. I'm not about to play "Where's Waldo?" and fine any other dupes, but you have to wonder...
so BoardGameGeek and I have the same birthday?! This has brightened my day! I wish I knew how to make a microbadge about sharing a birthday with such a cool guy.
I'm confused that the box art? How did you get all the clearances.
Presumably it was the fact that in the thread they made they said:
Quote:
If you would like to include your own congratulations on the sides of TBGGG box bottom please do the following:
In other words, people who did NOT want thier avatars used presumably didn't follow the instructions in that thread that said thumb and comment to get your avatar in.
I'm not an IT expert. Mainly self taught. But clearly a lot of time on Photoshop (PS) this year! So sometimes I have to improvise.
First issue. Why can't I copy and paste an avatar from BGG into PS? Solution. Copy and paste into Word. Then copy and paste from Word into PS.
Second issue. Copying from Word into PS gives (and requires in order to work!) white surrounds. So all avatars needed to be cropped when they reach PS. But at least I can copy them over in batches. Some avatar backgrounds turn from white to black! So try to correct this.
Big third issue. When I copy from Word to PS, some avatars sneak from one page in Word to another. I only realised this when I couldn't find one of the avatars I knew had been posted. So, print out all the Word pages and tick back to PS print out. I'm fairly sure I caught them all, so I think if anyone thinks they were missed off, it’s because they posted after the list was closed (I marked this point on both lists with a big red/yellow post).
Fourth issue. Some users posted to the comments at the bottom of the list. Some users posted to item 1 (the only item). So I try to weed out all the duplicates where users posted to both (on be in the safe side) or posted twice just to see how I was getting on!
Fifth issue. Way too many avatars. Hence need to ask Aldie to remove the list from the front page PDQ. So avatars are a little smaller than planned, but I think this is actually a good thing due to other issues that have been raised.
Sixth issue. Compiling the avatars. I decided to emboss them all. I thought they looked better that way. But I also tried to be sensitive to those who had posted photos of their children or similar - let’s not put them next to Attila the Hun, etc. Also, with very few exceptions I tried to avoid putting two avatars together which had white backgrounds so that all avatars were distinguishable.
First issue. Why can't I copy and paste an avatar from BGG into PS? Solution. Copy and paste into Word. Then copy and paste from Word into PS.
You can just right click on the pic in your browser and select Copy Image, then paste into PS, this should solve most of the other issues you listed due to copying from word to PS.
