A question... What is written on the inlay, inside the box?
Mark, You are absolutely right. Not a single one of those four games qualifies as a true wargame. I was at a game convention recently that is fun to attend but it is mostly a Eurogames type of game convention. I played a pick-up game of Barbarossa to Berlin with another GMT wargamer. While he and I were playing the game, we had more than one person come up and comment about how either that game was way too difficult or that GMT's CDG-style of games had too steep of a learning curve. BtB qualifies as a wargame of moderate complexity (in my opinion) and is a highly playable game. And yet its rules and strategies blow away any of the four games that were mentioned. My attitude is - if a game has plastic figures in it, then it is not a true wargame. I teethed on AH's Panzer Blitz and Luftwaffe as my first wargames, then eventually gravitated toward GDW's Europa games and Squad Leader/Cross Of Iron. Cheers!
