Is it just me or does it seem like the budget ran short in the art department here... I mean, miniatures for the monsters would have been ideal... but at least put something on the counters besides a blank circle.
Complicated artwork would have made it difficult to see them against the gorgeous artwork on all the room tiles. Given all the art production everywhere else, you're going to pick on this?
I'd have to agree about the shoddy counters. The room tiles are nice (despite the erroneous back on "underwater lake," and I'm sure the game was produced a bit more for mass consumption than for hardcore gamers, but I was definitely dissapointed in the quality of the art, especially considering the sheer quantity of counters in the game. It's tough to sort and distinguish between them, tougher to organize them without a home-made player aid (that some VERY thoughtful people have posted here), and just a bit "ucky" to look at.
Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but with all of the little things that went wrong with this production... cagey rules, numerous errata, misprinted tiles and cards, etc., I feel like AH/Hasbro really could have hit a homerun with this one, but instead just fouled one off the backstop leaving us to wonder what WOULD have happened if, say, Days of Wonder or Fantasy Flight had produced this one.
Easy enough to grab some glow in the dark Twilight Creations zombies for some scenarios, but SOME art on the counters would have been a big plus for me. Still, it's fun enough that I think I rated it an 8 or so just the same. I know I'll be cracking it out come Halloween, 8 bags of counters and all!
