This picture leads me to think that Hansa is a glorified Caylus. Is that true? I hope not, because Caylus makes me want to gulp

Why are there batches of cubes in the middle of the board? Do you keep your "dead" cubes in the middle?

Although I like both games a lot HT is nothing like Caylus.

Glad to hear it. Is there a catchup mechanic if you fall behind early. What I mean is - Does an early mistake doom you to lose? That is what I mean by "Is it like Caylus?".

It's hard to explain, but there's really no need for a catch-up mechanic in this game. You can recover from an early mistake in this game.

There are so many path to victory that even newbies should do fine and feel like they're in the game most of the time. I've also noticed the lead-changes are common towards game end and after adding end-game points. In other words, whatever strategy one chooses, it usually takes fruition in the end.

HT's strong point is it's unique player interaction. It can be very conflictual, but never devastating to the attacked as he/she gets an immediate reward for taking the hit.

Guide a newbie along a bit and you shouldn't have a runaway effect--unlike Caylus.
