Great looking figs. What brushes, colors, tools did you use for this? As I want to paint my DT2 minis. As I am new to miniature painting.. any advice what to buy.

The Colors are all from Vallejo's Game Color Series. I guess you could use any kind of acrylic paints, but I won't buy overpriced GW-stuff.

I only used one brush: Size 0.

In order to get some optical depth, I used Army Painter's Light Shade. I didn't dip the figures (wastes too much color), but applied it with an old brush (bigger than the brush you use for coloring).

Since I received some GeekMails on starting painting minis:

first: Take your time while painting, don't try to paint when you're in a hurry!

I didn't buy any books on painting, just some research on the internet.
Since I'm German I only know of german websites but I'm sure there are also tons of good English websites. You can also check youtube. In order to get some starting knowledge, you could check Wahrhammer (40k) forums since these guys have LOTS of figures to paint

Search for: Dipping method, drybrushing
Be sure to read this geeklist: http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/43744/item/1386539#item138...

What I recommend: Buy only some basic colors (flesh, blue, green, red, silver, ...) and black and white. This way, you can brighten or darken any colors to get more variety.
If you mix a color, you also might consider building a wet color palette: an old, flat tupperware box, some paper towel soaked with water and one layer of baking paper on top ( http://www.das-bemalforum.de/bilder/kb/nasspalette.jpg). This way your color won't dry too quickly.

Everybody says it's needed to prime miniatures prior to painting. I didn't prime mine, just washed them in soapy water.

Priming in my opinion is optional but what you definitely should do is to spray on some matte varnish after painting. This protects the paint.
