It should be noted that this promotional photo shows an over-simplified setup - the actual game uses 24 island tiles.

Looking at this image at a higher resolution, it's apparent that it was a pre-publication mockup. The treasure tokens in the photo look 2D, apparently photoshopped in. The island tiles in the actual game are thicker than those shown here. The pawns in the photo don't cast shadows, so are likely also photoshopped on.
