Turns out Esseb did touch the flag. Don't tell him I said so though.
looks really good. Nice chunky player boards because of the dials and doesn't look like there are too many cards (TI3 has way too many action/political cards) assuming that pile is all of them.
I saw contents of a real copy. The contents inside are nice. However, the size of all contents doesn't deserve a epic box. They can be fitted into a Battlestar Galactica box with space left. Although it may be a marketing decision with price tag struggle, I would like to see the game come in a more well-fit game box than occupying unnecessary space on my game shelf.
While I really love that the minis are sorted and bagged, I continue to be dumbfounded at how pointless FFG's inserts are. Between Descent, Cosmic Encounter, Chaos in the Old World ... I have no idea how many inserts I've had to get rid of.
Are the 3D "mountains" in the little bitty bag just under the lower-right corner of the terrain tile sheets?
EDIT: Oops, no, I enlarged the photo. That baggie has the rivets for the display dials. The mountains are below. The 3D effect is lost in the photo. Looks like they're vac-u-formed and finished in a manner similar to the old FIREBALL ISLAND board. Interesting. Might be wise to "fill" the hollow back with modeling putty to give them some weight and also greater durability.
Looks gorgeous.
Glad there will be expansions . . . but . . . I wish FFG would issue expansions for things like this in boxes that would fit INSIDE the big-box-game-container, especially when there's this much space left over.
Storage space can be a problem.
Won't stop me from buying the expansions, though. Sigh, my order is in, but I can't get there for it 'til Monday

Maybe they did the box in that size cause they already know there is going to be extension ??
and maybe we are going to be abble to fit all the parts in the main box
Is it me... or this doesn't seem as "epic" as it should be?
It has roughly the same amount of components as, say, Arkham Horror, or (more accurate) Warrior Knights.
For example, Starcraft has at least twice the amount of minis, lots of planets, 12 cardboard "fully colored" double sided sheets, three times the cards, it supports up to 6 players and (quoting a celebrity Ameritrasher) "a chit for every verb or noun in the rulebook".
Either this is an AWESOME game, or it ain't worth the $200 I'm gonna spend on it. I guess it's one of those "try before buy" games.
Edit: Apparently it has the same amount of minis as Starcraft, but still...

Don't underestimate the amount of cardboard in the 5 sheets directly below the box. Once you punch everything, you absolutely have to flip the massive insert to get things back in the box.
I picked up an organizer for the bits, and with the box flipped everything is fitting nicely:

Actually, you don't. You can fit everything back in the box quite easily without flipping the insert.

Sure you can just throw the insert away instead of flipping it, I guess.
Do you really jam all the pieces in the sides? and put all the tiles in that gap between the middle section and the lid?

Seriously. And even worse, when I wanted to make a trade for Runewars, the owner was unwilling because shipping cost was so high. But to add insult to injury (ok, so, there was neither insult nor injury), I asked him to ditch the box and ship the components, he said no because the box was such a part of the experience. I just want to play the game!
