So +5 in the hands of an Archer? Nice. Now the Amazons can get some love.
But the short sword is already +4 attack and can attack any rank, Archers can already wield it with the weight of 4. Seems like a cheaper way to get +3 gold than more attack.
That's where you see that Shortsword is actually an extremly good weapon.
This one is closer to Spear. Also compares to Flaming Sword : +3 magic vs non magic, strength 5 vs strength 4 but at rank 2/3 only. and +1 light vs +2 attack in archers hands.
Short bow does not seem a weapon that can combo with lot of things, but feels like a very good combo with pure archers.
The primary thing we need to remember before judging a weapon "worse" than another is that you don't directly choose which cards go in the village. If you were to pull the Bow and not the Shortsword as well, then I'm sure this one would suddenly look much better.
w00t! Bows! That will shut up the "Amazons but no bows" complainers!
Hopefully there will be long bows as well (wonder if there will be composite bows for complete-ists). Don't know how either would translate to Thunderstone. I believe that long bows were noted for being able to pierce medieval armor.
