Oh cool - they clearly go well with the fellowship tiles you made, yet also have a somewhat different style (to me, anyway, they look less woodcut-like). Good job on both sets!
Absolutely. To me, the fellowship characters draw their flair from the many details, and these "baddies" function by way of their simpler, more extensive contrasts. Well done again!
There is something very classic and "ancient" about these designs, as if we're seeing figures out of a manuscript from the middle ages about folk tales and legends. The Balrog especially. I like the top-knot on the orc, unexpected but it works well!
Once again, beautiful and very, very well done! I hope you'll make these available in a file, so people can print them out. I also hope one of the game companies sees your work here and hires you! This is great stuff and I'd love to see it widely available!
It's nice artwork, indeed. Here is my little comment. As I remember, the strengh of Balrog is 9 instead of 5. I guess Balrog and Cave Troll is mismatched.

You're remembering wrong. Balrog is 5, Cave Troll is 9 (but ignores opposing cards).
Kudos! I especially like your interpretation of the Orc; very true to their lineage as Morgoth's corrupted mockery of the elves.
(and I am a little ashamed that I knew this off the top of my head)
Sauruman's raised eyebrow is a nice touch too.

That's two interesting observations and both accurate, I think. It is all the more effective if you consider that the more iconic, rough cut fellowship characters are elevated to the mythic in their presentation while these, more realistically stylized forces, are made more earthly and substantive -- more fearsome!
Did you ever consider making some artwork for other "Lord of the Rings"-based games? Because if you ever came up with something to use in MiddleEarthQuest, I would go any length to make a copy out of it! Promised!
Thanks for the well reception of my work everyone. No I currently don't have a website with my work on it. That is probably going to be my next project.
Aljoscha, I have not tried my hand at any other Tolkien games. The reason is this is the only one I currently own. To redo all the artwork in it I would need a copy of Middle Earth Quest. If I had one I could give it a try but looking at that parts list...
* 1 Gameboard * 5 Character cards * Over 470 game cards * More than 225 game tokens
Auberon, please excuse me for misspelling your name! No need to redo a whole game at once. I guess we all admire your way of capturing characters, so for that alone your work would be worthwhile. Just let us know when there is anything coming forward!

...it might take awhile.
The better thing would just to work on the Deluxe edition characters.

Actually, Cave Troll doesn't ignore OPPOSING cards, it ignores the Shadow player's cards. IE, if you are the Shadow, no matter what card you play, it is ignored if the Cave Troll is fighting. The good player's card is still valid.
Only Gandalf and Sam can beat the cave troll while expending the five card. Aragon and Boromir can kill it and die in the process. A bit overpowered considering its actual toughness.
It's odd having a Black Rider and a Nazgul, but I guess the game is to blame for that, not the artist. As with the Hero counters, the art is really nice. The stylization really catches the eye.
Your work is simply superb. I find myself going back to look at them again just to admire them. The images look old but evoke a timeless quality as well. The lines are clean and the artistry shines through each piece. My only problem with having them in a game is that I would waste so much time staring that I'd have to be prodded to play. Is there a place where your work is available for purchase?
Joseph Kiluk, Currently I do not have a website with my work on it for purchase. That is my next project and if people are interested I will let everyone know when its ready. Thanks again everyone.

I disagree.Using the "Sacrifice" Card (Bothopponents are eliminated) even Pippin (strength 1) can kill the cave troll, and thereis nothingthe shadow player can do against it - no use of playing the "eye of sauron"(= Igrore goodtext cards) card.
