I like whoever tagged her as not really playing. It was our second game to play on wargameroom.com. We tried to play on the actual board but just couldn't get all the rules down right away. So the logical thing was to play where the rules are enforced for you. She had to use the cards for quick reference per turn because it took too long to go through the menus for each card and we don't have them memorized just yet. Our first game took about 30 min on the board (not playing right) and the second was played online and took 5 hours and the third time was about 3 and a half hours. One complaint she has is the zoomed in map makes it hard to assess the entire situation which is why I was able to beat her as USA by ravaging my way through all of Africa for the win while she was preoccupied with attempting European control. She is quite competitive and a ruthless gamer.

you know its funny , BGG has a few young women such as superkim and BBB that become site stars in their own smallway . they gain a following , and if nothing else provide for an amusing imaginary game .

i imagine super kim to be sassy and assertive . BBB i imagine to be sickeningly sweet , which lulls you into a false sense of security as she sneeks in and blind sides you .

i dont know what the BGG con has at it as i am to broke to even IMAGINE going to it , but i imagine there is probably an auction ??? and i think its would be interesting if the BGG girls who attend would volunteer to auction off a game session for charity . they could provide say 5-6 differnt games to choose from . and auction off the number of player minus 1 (the BGG girls space) with the proceeds going to a food bank or some such charity .

i just think it would be interesting to have a chance to play against one of the BGG celebs in a casual game , and i know people are usuallly pretty generous when they know its going to charity . back when we used to have a local con here all profits went to the local childrens hospital , and without fail the highest grossing item from the auction was an empty box , and the bragging rights that went with owning that empty box each year in the name of charity .

just a thought .

You are wrong. They are both overweight, sweaty and hygienically challenged men with incredible Photoshopping skills. Or they're actually Nigerian teenagers plotting to separate you from your well earned $$$$.

You have been warned.

J/k. But seriously, though, why the strange interest in girls who happen to be on this site? Attitudes seem to vary between two strange extremes, from "ewww, no pictures of girls, please, they have cooties and they should cover up those comely ankles lest they drive the menfolk here wild with lust" to "OMG, it's a GIRL! Can I carry your board-games?!?!"

Those who don't give a shit won't take the time and effort to comment. So the comments are from folks who have stronger opinions. That's why you see the dichotomy of comments.

I don't play TS, but can't tell you how many times I've missed an important move in For The People or Paths Of Glory while I was zoomed in. Its my fault for playing too quick.

She is not the only one to fall victim to the out of sight, out of mind phenomena of the zoomed in board on wargameroom. Try playing zoomed out so you can see it all -- the details get lost, but you can quickly assess board position and understand what needs to be addressed. Once you've played a game that way, you'll wonder why you ever bothered zooming in.

Also, the suggestion of using the card manifest is a great one: I now churn out full games of TS online in under 3 hours (under 2 if it's with someone fully comfortable with the interface).

Anyway, great picture -- always nice to see people playing and enjoying one of the best games ever made

LOL now wouldnt that be a nigerian scam to end all scams

i dont know what girl gamers are like where you are from , but here the rule is they are not much seperated from the male gamers in hygene and personality . BBB and super kim represent the exceptions , women who could probably hold a great in game conversation about something OTHER than their 12th level female paladin ( like movies or curent events , any number of other non game topics ) , probably dont walk around in renesance fair style clothing (or the same clothes they have been wearring for a week ) , obviously go out in the sun at some point , could walk down the street without being called nerd just based on appearance and manerisims , and smile those wonderful smiles (kim's is evil , BBB's is sickening seductively sweet yet no less dangerious i am sure ) . those are qualities that you dont find in most gamer girls , AND gamer girls are numericaly much rarer than guy gamers ........

i my self think it would be fun to sit down and play a game with such women just to have a good time in a GAME with a woman that adds to the experience . its alot different conversation than just sitting around the game board talking with a bunch of guys .

In 1989: Dawn of Freedom it highlights in green the cities your opponent just placed/removed influence from, I have found this helps a lot in not missing what your opponent just did. I think Bruce is planning to add this to other games at some point.

I have gamed with BBB and her other half and truly enjoyed the experience. We played a five-player of the meanest of meanest boardgames, INTRIGUE. We also played BEOWULF: THE LEGEND. BBB is a very serious boardgamer & competitor, plus she has a great sense of humor. She is indeed a beauty with brains to boot, and a little birdy told me she may be at
BGG.CON 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
Ernie is racing to be in the front of the long line to game with BBB and MedicDutch!!!!

That would be an excellent addition. Specific to TS, it'd also be nice if the chits showed different colours depending on whether you had presence or control of a country. It's a visual cue I very much miss when playing online.
