Check Days Of Wonder's site. IIRC, this tournament has already taken place.

The gold/silver/bronze trains are for the winners of the North American Championship tournament. In order to be invited to that, people had to win in regional qualifier tourneys. The prizes for those were the score markers. So the people who won the trains already had score markers (though not necessarily matching).

So intimidating to drop that on the table with a coy "I brought my own" when asked what color you want to be.

I would've just walked into a bar and went "Hey girls, look what I have!"

If I were to bring it to a game event, you'd bet I'd count my pieces everytime before I left.

Is he aware the game comes with like 3 extra pieces in each color?

I don't know about you guys, but I leave the extras out, and only use them as needed.

Too bad that "being good at Ticket to Ride" is not very intimidating by itself.

I'd assume because it's solid gold, which would make it considerably heavy.

Anyone know the weight difference between solid gold and gold-plated TtR train piece? I'd imagine it'd probably feel similar to a regular chess piece from a chess set you'd buy at any toy store vs those weighted/felt bottom chess pieces that meet USCF standards? Individually, they're not heavy, but if you were to carry the whole set of trains, of solid gold, then you'd really feel it?
