The artwork is as it has allways been. Some cards are crappy (Familiar is worst, Philosophers Stone looks like parts of the print cartridge ran out), others are better (Alchemist i.m.o)
Hooray, my first front page image ever. That alone was worth the 25 Euros for 150 cards... and the 10 Euros for the train ride. And the 15 Euros for the ticket to the fair.
They sold Alchemy @RPG Con?! I thought they just would have some playable copies??
Yes, they had a few copies available and they sold like hotcakes. The lady at the booth asked me: "You also want 4 copies of Alchemy, don't you?" Damnit, why didn't I pick up more copies, could have made a fortune on ebay...^^
Stein der Weisen (philosofer's stone?) sounds like you will be counting cards during the whole game.
my thoughts exactly. sounds like a real "game slower" to me...
Then don't buy it until you are largely done buyng cards. That way, you will count the deck only the first time you use it, and sinply have to remember to add the victory cards you obtain through using it to the total. I really don't think that would be too difficult.
The art in this set is fine. Scrying Pool looks like it belongs in an illustrated children's book, but the rest are good, some even great. I'm not sure why people are so critical of Dominion's art, but I think it is safe to say that it does have a definite style now: consistent in its inconsistency.
I find the art surprisingly good apart from "Vision", but even that is far better than worst of other sets. It just seems like part of completely different game.. Oh and potion while fills its role, could have used some artistic freedom..
