So glad you liked. I was just explaining the game a bit to a young lass and many found it quite interesting. This game will be well played over candlelight, with some grog in hand, many times over. Perhaps a session report in my future if I can recall the outcome in the AM hours.
For the record the event was a tactical with no spectators in sight so we were a little lax on hiding away such things as the stale donuts and coffee container among others.
I loved what you did making the banner!
As I was driving to and from the event I came across a nice historical sign in Washington, NH stating that the town was the first such named after the President (1778). I see another photo op in the near future...
Excellent. I'd love to see more games at reenactments and museums. Not sure why I have never seen an air war related game of some sort at the National Museum of the Air Force here in Dayton. Maybe a challenge to overcome.
Wings of War Miniatures is a great game for Non Wargamers and kids too to get into a drop in game. I bet the museum would be excited to help. Its plays from 4 to 10 players pretty easy and people can drop in and drop out. If you wanna buy the game and the miniatures its gonna cost a couple hundred though. Maybe the museum would sponsor?
Yeah nice photo but you really farbed up your campsite, those plastic jugs didn't help either. (I was in cw reenacting 8th TN US) just kidding! I never took a game to a reenactment, I was afraid of it getting wet or damaged with all the other stuff you have to take.
Looking for a playtester/editor/translator for your cool new game? Contact us, we're free (but we ask to be mentioned in the acknowledgements, and a copy of the game would be a nice gesture, but not necessary).

I would soooo play the Rebels. I would also love to reenact the Continental Army. Give me a tricorn and the blue and buff and a copy of a copy of a Brown Bess and I'll be happy. Or give me a long rifle and I'll be a Minuteman or militia.

There's forty shillings on the drum To those who volunteer to come, To 'list and fight the foe today Over the Hills and far away.
O'er the hills and o'er the main Through Flanders, Portugal and Spain. King George commands and we obey Over the hills and far away.

Yep...they were the terror of the world and a bunch of backwoodsmen and farmers and some frenchmen stood up to them and defeated them. Kind of funny, that.
I LOVE board games, play the heck out of them and have many more than I've listed on the Geek, but come on, guys.... REALLY?
But hey, more power to you... I just wouldn't do something like that... ever.
Even if I had the desire to do it, where the heck do you find the time???
I can appreciate the passion you guys obviously have for wargaming but, FOR ME, dressing up in costumes because of a game, movie, comic, etc, would do nothing for me. It wouldn't make me enjoy something more, I don't feel the need to convince anyone of how much I like something and I would rather get in more game time than find/create/wear a costume.
My wife finds the fact that I like boardgames so much to be a bit odd, disturbing even... imagine what she would think if I were in one of those costumes playing this game.
This is not a criticism because, again, I admire your passion... it's just not for me.

You have never heard of reenactors? They aren't dressed up because they are playing the game. They are in period costume because they are reenactors. They are amateur historians recreating colonial life during the American War for Independence. Their passion for history leads them to an immersive experience, recreating period life, in order to gain a deeper and better understanding of the time period and the events that shaped history. The game is peripheral to that.
They have a passion for this period in history and it is quite natural that overlapping interests such as reenacting and simulation gaming (wargaming) for the same period might be expressed simultaneously. They are complimentary activities. (The only issue is the anachronism...but I suspect this was (a)out of public view or (b) after hours at the campsite.)
My brother is a WW II reenactor. About a month ago, I tried (unsuccessfully) to purchase a wargame (Conflict by Parker Brothers) that was produced in 1941, so that he could play a period authentic game while he was reenacting. It's a natural fit.
Now me, on the other hand; I put on pirate hats when I play pirate board games with my kids (ages 7 & 10) and so do they. That is just for fun. You should try it sometime. We also have pith helmets for when we play The Adventurers and I made a red fez for when we play Valley of the Pharaohs. Good fun!
