Two questions: Where are the figures from and do you miss the numbers along the track?
I think I would probably miss the numbers for quick distance calculations and I looked for appropriate figures forever before settling on making meeples and scoring stones out of sculpey.
I brought my homemade version to the beach last week. It fits in a playing card box. I also have five blank cards as zeros for playing Sumo, although I haven't played it yet.
But (I don't know why) it doesn't appear in the game page, though some people are definitely reading it (I don't know why either!). You will find the details about the minis. They are quite cheap, about 1 euro each.
I don't miss the numbers because I have never included them in my home-made versions. Changing the color every three spaces has been enough in order to find out the destination or the relative distance, and in this setup it is straightforward to know who ended closer to the middle space!
