Arrr... I really wish that these were pre-painted. Don't get get me wrong, I think the miniatures look gorgeous, but it's just such a shame that many of these great miniatures (including mine) will be left unpainted.

Here's an interesting statement from the website: "The miniatures will also be undercoated, making them ready to be painted."
As cool as this picture is, it does not do justice to the actual minis. I had a chance to see/play a demo @ GenCon. They are BEAUTIFUL! If a pre-paint set is only $20 more then I'm willing to spend the extra coin.

Take into consideration that this was a prototype, with a just printed that morning rule book, 25+ pages, and no official demo person.....
I liked what I saw. The cards have a lot of info on them, movement attack defense special powers etc. Over time I am sure reading them will become second nature. But I really like that when a character is wounded you just flip it over to a new set of wounded stats.
The modular aspect of the board is just awesome. You could never play the same map twice.

What prevents you to paint them or to have them painted by one of your friend, or even a professionnal? Many miniatures players paint for money. I'm sure you can find someone to help you with this game.
I dare anyone to say that these aren't the finest minis ever produced for a boardgame. Stunning!
I would say the 3rd edition of Space Hulk still has the best minis, but these still look nice. I am glad to see more companies going with the "pre-primed" method. I like to paint the miniatures when possible and this just makes it even easier.

I think it is worth the $80-$100 MSRP
Did you ask Zev? He demoed the game for me and Steve Avery. He knew the game very well and it seems like it is going to be cool/weird. For instance, you can interrogate/torture a player's captured piece for points. The reason, is various scenarios have someone captured and you have to rescue them. In order to force people to attack in a faster, more aggressive, even reckless way, (than say take their time and pick one person off at a time after setting their figures up in a perfect formation). The women even has the power to dazzle some of the other male figures and if she is successful, the male figure will fall in love with her and fight on her side. A little goofy but certainly original and definitely she is a tough black widow. All of the board pieces are modular and like a puzzle system so the size of the map can be big or small, and there is an endless of amount of tweaks a player can make to a scenario. Zev said there was going to be a several scenarios (didn't give an exact number but I seem to remember being impressed that it was significant), and there was going to be some kind of support/push for player created scenarios. I don't know I like skirmish games but didn't like the first Tannhauser rules. I am on the fence about this game, just because I have been burnt several times before with games like this, but from what I saw this game had massive potential.
I hate saying this because I honestly can't remember, but I think Zev mentioned there was a possibility depending on cost that he might sell sets pre-painted. However, I am in the minis hobby and pre-painted minis are not cheap if you want quality, even if you have them farmed out in India, China, or Indonesia. Prices have been rising because of improved working conditions (in this case improvement is probably relative) and other interesting phenomenon.
For example the competition is thinning out somewhat because some companies are closing. A friend of mine used this one company in Indonesia that was not a sweat shop, to paint whole 3,000 point warhammer armies on the cheap. He found out it just closed down because all of their quality painters retired. The company was run as a co-op with all the painters getting a fair share of the total bill with the owners of the company. Apparently the painters that had made enough money after several years to never have to work again so they quit. It got so hard to find new painters, or train new painters that the company decided to fold.
I stumbled upon the game as I was getting ready to play Rattus, great Eurotrash game by the way.
I just read the first 5-7 pages to get a feel for the game and learn the command token rules.
Yeah I got lucky and there was "down" time (not slow just not insane) where Zev had enough time to show us the game. It looks great and I hope to see more about this game in the near future.
I could swear i saw a French review where the designer said they were looking into getting painted sets made and he actually quoted a very reasonable price. I think it was in the range that the DT Deluxe sets were at but i cannot be sure.
I have the DT deluxe set and looking at these it's pretty close on quality and craftsmanship. Once i get this game i can see better but regardless they are still very nice for a mass produced BG.

Great, right? Wrong!! It´s like saying:"The car will also be undercoated, making it ready to be painted." Rave all the way you want about the minis, they are incomplete...

I'd have to agree that Space Hulk has even more detailed and dynamic minis, but these obviously look just great and I like the functionality of the base as well.
I'm definitely putting this game on my Christmas list... which is another way of saying that I'll probably buy it for myself before Christmas gets here!
out of the box, they are not all white (gray, pinkish and something else for traitors) plus you got character cards in front of you, sculpts are characteristic.. also on bases you can see their faction icon.. and finally, after reading their background stories one becomes quite familiar.. after all it's just a dozen, doesn't feel 'anonymous' ;]
