I painted these minis without primer and utilized the dip method. I also decided to flock the bases, as it blends in with the board nicely.

Thanks. They look even nicer in person. All the red you see is unpainted plastic. All the shading is dip, of course. I was inspired by the thread about Space Hulk 3rd Edition called "How to Paint a Terminator in 15 minutes" and by Universal Head's pictures of his painted minis for this game.

What substance do you use for the dip? I'm thinking of giving my figures a quick paint job, which will inevitably require some dipping. I've been using Quickshade Strong Tone previously, and while it gets the job done it sometimes leaves a too shiny surface; plus, there are a few colours (blue in particular) it doesn't combine with very well.

I used Minwax Polyshades Antique Walnut satin followed by Armory Matte Spray Varnish. The Matte Spray is necessary to take away the shine.
