I painted these minis without primer and utilized the dip method. I also decided to flock the bases, as it blends in with the board nicely.

Nice looking job. May I ask what paints you used and what parts of the models you painted? Did the dip work on bare grey plastic, or did you have a base color on every part?

Also, what dip did you use? I am very curious as I just started painting again after a five year break. I do not intend to paint much except my board game pieces btw.

Again, nice job!

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I used Minwax Antique Walnut polyshades painted on with cheapo craft brushes followed 24 hours later by a couple of very light spray coats of Armory Matte Sealer.

I basically used only a few paints and tried to leave as much as possible "raw" plastic. The horse is Vallejo Saddle Brown with highlights in GW's Boltgun Metal (silver). The rider's shirt and the horse's blanket is unpainted, as are the axe guy's shirt and the archer's leggings.

I used GW's Elf Flesh for all the faces and other skin areas. The axe guy's armor bits are Vallejo Bronze. I did a little bit of white edging for the fur fringe that you see around the axe guy's coat and other places. The dogs are Vallejo Goldbrown. I think every other brown is Saddle Brown.

I highly recommend the Vallejo paints.

Thanks for the info! At the end of my painting days I pretty much only used Vallejo. I had all their game color set and have been using them again. Most of them still work after a five year storage, but a few are too thick and need replaced. Good stuff.
