We're trying to start manufacturing any time now and so I still have hope it'll appear before the year is done.

Are the guards stronger/more dangerous the higher the number? Because I look at "1" and think, "Yeah, I'm a ninja - I could take that guy." I look at "5" and think, "Better hide like a ninja."

If so, the artwork conveys the mechanic well.

Exactly. There are two ways to get by guards: sneaking or using force (strength). So for the 1, he's hard to sneak by, but easy to defeat with strength. And just the opposite for the 5 - easy to sneak by, but difficult to take out using strength.

Very cool. So, will a player's decision to fight or sneak be determined by certain "skill characteristics" chosen/developed by his ninja, i.e. a variable power that will require opportunity-cost (as opposed to always fighting #1 and sneaking by #5)?

Yes! There are different styles you can learn that favor one method of infiltration over another. But you can always prepare for any guard - e.g. you can take out a samurai with a bit of explosive, but it's easier to sneak by.
