Himeji Samurai Castle? What the? Himejijo or Himeji castle should have explained enough... haven't been there, I would not call it a wonder of the world either.
I've been to Himeji, and were thoroughly impressed by the level of detail in its defenses. Allegedly the only castle in Japan that has never been conquered. I don't know what cultural impact the castle has had, but merely as a defensive construction, and the size of it, I'm ok with considering this a wonder... at least as much as I'd do the Statue of Liberty and the Sidney Opera House... if not more so.
I like the wonders, really, but isn't it a bit strange that the pyramids aren't part of them? Especially since you can play the egyptians?
But beside this I really like the wonders. Would be nice to see Taj Mahal, the Alhambra or the Voyage of Magellan, too, in a future expansion Perhaps a wonder of south american origin, too?

Plenty of stuff they can do for an expansion: -New Wonders -New Techs -New Civs -New Culture cards
They don't even really need to design new mechanics. There's so much room to expand on existing mechanics!
Indeed, I would prefer adding such new stuff (more options to choose from) rather than adding new game mechanics that most times only tend to make a game more complex
Yes, shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is Roger the Shrubber. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies.
Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say Ni at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange & design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history

I'm also a bit disappointed with the selection of Wonders. Sure, there's an opportunity for an expansion there, but in order to be worthwhile it will take more than a few new cards. (I'd like to see a Diplomatic victory condition and City States a la Civilization V.)
As to South American Wonders, Civilization V has Machu Pichu and Cristo Redentor. Civilization IV also had the Moai, which could be considered part of South America.

\ Just to expand on what MasterDinadan said: This game IS ripe for expansions and they did a good job designing it so that expansions could be added in without having to change any rules.

-New Wonders
This is needed, with only 4 wonders from each age, they get kinda stale fast. An expansion that doubled these and then let the players select (randomly of course) the 4 to be used would be great.
MasterDinadan wrote:
-New Techs
This is not needed. There are already plenty of techs for each level.

-New Civs
This is needed. Civ with only 6 civs to choose from seems woefully inadequate. I expect to see alot of fan-made content popping up to fill this role pretty quick though.

Meh, the culture deck seems pretty varied as it is, but I'm sure the designer could come up with a few more interesting uses for them.
The human race, to which so many of my readers belong, has been playing at children's games from the beginning, and will probably do it till the end, which is a nuisance for the few people who grow up. - GKC

Period.
Didn't the UN defeat the Nazi forces of Charlie Chaplin and save the world?
As in, "I wonder how something that costs so much can accomplish so little" or "I wonder how any organization can be taken seriously, when it elects Iran to sit on the Women's Rights Commission?"
Truly, the UN is the greatest absurdist wonder of the age.

It was never attacked. I'm not sure that's correct that it is the only one never conquered, I know Osakajo was never attacked as well.
If you're referring to the modern concrete reconstruction, then it would be true to say Osaka Castle was never attacked. However, earlier versions of Osaka Castle saw a lot of battle action during the Sengoku Period.

I would call it a wonder of the world. However, I agree that simply Himeji Castle would have been more than enough -- why include the term "Samurai" for no reason?
Heck, let's change Sydney Opera House to Sydney Opera Singing House then...?
As for their choice in "World Wonders," I'm sure they chose these specific things to give a large selection and not overlap on similar powers too much. In the expansion, which is sure to happen (considering it is FFG and the success of this game already), I'm positive they will have more Wonders.
