There is definitely not enough room for playing it with 8 players. When the planet cards and technology cards start to appear in front of everybody...

Still, awesome design thumbsup

Hmm... if people can remember their race special abilities, it might be prudent to turn the race sheets on their side, sliding the half with the summaries and abilities under the tiles, giving each player a lot more space for planets and tech...

Well, experiencerd players would not need the race sheet at all. I usually place my tech cards on the sheet when space is an issue.

It doesn't look wide enough.

If it's the same Ikea table I have, the problem is indeed the width. However, it works marvellously for 4 or 5 players and the extreme length gives plenty of room for storing all the extra miscellany and dice towers and such. Better to use the round/octagon table and pick up a few of these for storing player units/tech trees/references/drinks/etc.

Not bad. Would even fit an extra ring of planets.

It's tight but we manage - there are a few more pics floating around of us all squeezed around it. Judicious stacking of the planet cards and generally everyone knowing the tech cards helps.

Not that I know of - I have since gotten another one that is ever so slightly larger but almost exactly the same design. Both Craigslist finds
