The Spanish mopped up all of North Africa except Egypt. But, even with the help of Massena and a French corps, out of three major battles against the Turks west of Alexandria, the Franco-Spanish armies have only won one and lost two! The French declined to reinforce the 3rd battle, but it looked as if the Spanish was about to lose that one anyway. Read the Portland AARs for 2010 and 2011 to get the story. The Spanish also have Crete and Cyprus garrisoned, and they just took Sicily away from the Austrians. But Spain is now at war with Turkey, Austria, and Russia, all Spanish declarations of war after French calls to his Spanish ally.

The wins by Turkey would have been much more effective if the Sultan would stop rolling 1's on Calvary pursuit! Both times a 1! UGH.

See the session reports here: Portland 2011 part 1 "The Winter of Our Discontent" and AAR 2010 Portland

For me, the most nerve-wracking part of the session was that cup of coffee at the Austrian seat (and I'm amazed that wasn't the first comment from someone). Especially considering he wasn't feeling well, I was sure there was going to be a great European flood of 1807.
