Only five dollars more and you get a board and pawns. I didn't start my Munchkin collection over again to get color cards, but this may compel me to do it...

Hot damn! I've never seen such a sexy Munchkin! I'm in!
What are the board and pawns for? The box doesn't say. Had one customer say "It doesn't say what's different. They just expect me to buy it because it's Munchkin... Yeah it'll probably work, but not today."
Basically it looks/sounds like the rules and the same. You move pawns on the board to keep track of levels. Overkill, maybe, but I've never liked keeping track of levels with dice because they're too easily knocked to a different side, and glass beads (et al) don't feel quite right thematically. Progressing your pawn on the board makes it easy to see who's ahead.
So it's nice, but not necessary, which is a good working definition of "Deluxe."
I don't think it's a reason to rebuy Munchkin unless A) you buy everything Munchkin or B) like me you still have original Munchkin with monocrhome art and all the card backs the same color.
