I cut out hexes and created a ball, like a soccer ball, so I could see how everything would align up. It was a pain in the butt! I envisioned the capital planet in the center of that ball. Movement around the ball, 2 dimensional, works like normal, only I looped the edges. Note the red hexes, they link (wrap) to the other side of the "globe. The yellow circles linked inward to the capital planet and the sectors around it. This made movement THROUGH the sphere possible - 3 dimensional. 4 dimensional?

Other BBGs created custom system tiles that I liked so I made them and incorporated them into the play mat design. The lost system of Sol, The Galactic Bank, a 3-way wormhole nexus, and a couple of battle stations. The Sol system connections are red - to get there takes 2 turns in HYPERSPACE to get there where as all other connections (green and blue) are considered adjacent systems.

This was our fist time playing with this play mat. One of the players said afterward - I’m digging this play mat! -

Hummm. I tried upload to BGG and it crashed as I expected it to. I then tried uploading my Dropbox but it has a 300 MB limit. The file is 349 MB. I'll have to... I don't know. I have to research it.

Anyway you could make it a RAR or ZIP file to keep it smaller?

I tried. It's still too large. I'll work on condensing layers in PhotoShop to see if that helps.

You could split the archive and upload the parts individually, as people do with versions of the same file.

I'd love to see this as well. When I need to share large files I use a site like gamefront dot com--video gamers use it to share mods and gameplay videos. It specializes in large files sizes and is free. You might try posting to it and then sharing the link...?

Superb work!

You could try to compress and split the file in different files with winrar for example.

It shouldn't be difficult to do. and probably, after that, you could upload those smaller/splitted files to your dropbox.

cheers!
