This wholesome young lass gets my vote for our new Magic Girl when the current one (y'know, with the exposed breasts and all that) falls prey to the heavy hand of intarwebs censorship.
It is really starting to irk me how people keep raving about "the magic girl"/"exposed breasts" etc etc in nauseam.
Don't you think that these girls should be allowed to play games and even be photographed doing so without a bunch of (middle-aged?) guys commenting their looks on the internet, and in public forums to boot?
The next time you feel the urge to comment some players looks, first think about what your mother would think of you if she read what you wrote.
Society responds to variations from the norm. It's like someone with 27 face piercings saying, "What are you lookin' at?" I'm looking at you jackass!
For good or bad, if you are going to stand out from the crowd (exposed cleavage, short skirt, naked, etc) you will be noticed. Maybe it's not your fault. Maybe you are just cute as all hell. That's life.
"Noticing" isn't what kgm3219 is complaining about. You can "notice" attractive people all you want; it's when you start announcing it that people start getting uncomfortable.

So whose fault is that? I say it's the one with the low-cut top. If you can't take people talking like people do, then don't come to BGG.
We have no problems talking about the attributes of games, or even the attributes of people in the game pictures (funny, scary, cute, etc), but if we start to talk about sex...oh my god, the humanity! We are so uptight as a culture about this one thing that certain words are taboo. Everything else, we can be as gratuitous as we like and no one blinks an eye.
As the original poster I should clarify my comments here. Basically I think the leering at girls on BGG thing is a bit creepy and a times has bordered on harassment. My off-the-cuff comment above was in response to some users trying to get the magic girl photo deleted on the basis that children might see her breasts -- would this other girl be wholesome enough for them? Would all photos of women eventually be deleted? Would a head to toe potato sack be acceptable? And so on.
Anyway I think it's fine to be attracted to someone as long as that doesn't devolve into stalking or harassment. But it's a bit weird to obssess over a small pixellated image rather than an actual flesh and blood person.

I don't understand--are you offering that as a comment on society, or are you saying we on BGG should do something to change it, e.g. by posting "nice tits" every time we see a pair?
(If you feel the same way about other taboos, such as eating boogers, I will thank you to let them remain taboo.)
That makes sense, but, have you actually seen people behave like that? Pointing to a girl across the room and announcing to everyone, "I'd tap that," or ranking the women in the room by their sex appeal loudly enough that they and their significant others can hear? (Both behaviors seen on BGG, where posters are talking loudly enough for everyone in the entire world to hear.)

I wish I could thumb this a billion times!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite line: "I'm looking at you jackass!"
