Somehow I'm not connecting softcore tentacle porn with "a mature discerning audience," but best of luck to you anyway.

Good luck to you- it looks like you have a good artist and will meet your goal very soon.

I do think you'll get more backers if you include stretch goals (which give incentives for backers to spread the word to others or increase their pledges because they want to reach the goals). Strange you don't have any considering how good tentacles are at...ahem...stretching.

I already reported it to Kickstarter as tentacle porn, so we'll see how long it stays up.
Using your tentacle to "score" on Gashi Gashi . . . really?

Seriously?
Just because you don't like a game that's no reason to make a false report to KS to try and get it shut down.

Agreed, I'm not backing this, but reporting it is lame.

Nothing false about the report. It will be up to Kickstarter to decide the merit of the report. But I was offended and it clearly relates to tentacle porn.
In general terms it looked like a pretty lame game, but that's not reportable.

I hope you do well, but seeing as they shut down Tentacle Bento (which seemed to have a pretty similar premise) I wouldn't expect this to last to completion on KS.

Suddenly a shot rang out! A door slammed. The maid screamed. Suddenly a pirate ship appeared on the horizon! While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury. Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.

Some of you people are so thin skinned.
Who cares what other people do with their games?

I'm not thin-skinned at all, Nicholas.

However, I do have some minimum standards and those require I have nothing to do with 'games' of this sort or those who produce them.

I do agree that it's someone's KickStarter project and the best way to denounce it is to not support it. However, once a project is advertised here on the forums, then it should be expected to see some criticism pop up here and there. That's only fair.

I personally think it's a little too far on the tasteless side, but if there's a market for this sort of thing, then so be it. It's not for me, so I'll leave it for others.

First of all, thanks to everyone who took the time to respond. I'm happy to announce that we've made our funding goal and are on the way to our first stretch goal!

Secondly, to address concerns over the game's content:
We understand that not everyone is interested in the subject matter or is interested in learning more about the culture it came from. We want to reiterate that there is absolutely no pornography in this project. Our goal from the start has been to attempt to dispel the commonly held stereotype that hydrostaticly themed creatures bear any sort of malice towards young women. We believe that characters, much like people, should not be judged by the stereotypes around them, but by their own individual actions. It is in this spirit that we hope to use our art to create a world that fosters love and understanding regardless of external appearances and prejudices.

If you had nothing to do with it you would have shielded your delicate eyes and sensibilities and moved on. Instead you chose to deliberately read the project and send them a message. This isn't having nothing to do; this is deliberately getting involved. It wasn't enough for you to ignore it, you had to "so something". Super-lame.

Now I'm going to have to back the project entirely on principle.

"We understand that not everyone is interested in the subject matter or is interested in learning more about the culture it came from."

I humored you and did a google of 'origin and symbolism of tentacles in Japanese art' and these are the first three responses:

"If you had nothing to do with it you would have shielded your delicate eyes and sensibilities and moved on."

I came in here to make sure my eyes did not deceive me. I thought this might be some rather sick attempt at humor. Not totally surprised I was mistaken or that there are those who support this.

"Instead you chose to deliberately read the project and send them a message."

Indeed. After having seen the apparent seriousness of these folks, I felt a serious response was in order.

"This isn't having nothing to do; this is deliberately getting involved."

You're really on a roll now...

"It wasn't enough for you to ignore it, you had to "so something"."

You are truly the master of the obvious.

"Now I'm going to have to back the project entirely on principle."

Don't use me to justify your support of tentacle porn (soft-core or otherwise...). By golly, you just jump right out there and stand by your slimey friends and your 'principles', such as they are.

Oh and just to clarify: 'having nothing to do with' means they get absolutely no support from me. It does not mean I remain quiet if I decide a response is needed.

Guys, don't feed the trolls!

Like any independent game project, I hope it goes well for the creator, whether or not the game is for me. Always nice to see new and unique games see the light of the day. Best of luck to this one!

Heh, you'd think that someone against tentacle porn would support a game that features tentacles and schoolgirls in a non-pornographic context.

The game seems to be a memory game with some interesting mechanics added and good artwork. Not my thing but I'm glad it has funded.
