not salt but might be a leading question
[o] I have gone across and down to get the number of entry, then used the stars on the stripes corresponding and then used the number for the letter. still gibberish. What am I doing wrong???

Do we have to unscramble at the last step? What I'm looking at isn't a word and isn't accepted as an answer, yet I can't find an anagram for it. :S

Edit: Sigh. Found my mistake. It's a very nice puzzle!

The order of the stripes is important, and will help you unscramble and get your final clue.

I first

Next was the

To get to where I posted last time, as I had made a mistake in step two.

After correcting it I got to

I was fairly certain that each star on the flag is not specifically attributable to a specific state. Is that just not true or just not true for this puzzle?
