My wife and I broke out Super Munchkin to figure out the rules before we head over to see our families for New Years. The two person game was good for learning how the phases work and answered some questions that may have come up later. Now we are prepared to unload on our Nephews and Siblings at the get together. My wife beat me hands down as I almost constantly drew Trap cards. She was level 8 and I was level 1 but shortly after I caught up with her. She still smoked me in the end.

I wanted to get Munchkin but we have two young girls in the house and I believe that Super Munchkin will probably be generally accepted at most game nights where a DnD mock game would be shunned. I definitely dont think Munchin Bites would work at a Church game night either.

Down the road I might get a chance to play Munchkin and see how tame it is before purchasing it. I have to consider my kids and who would be playing on those game nights.

Why not? Is a fictional game about Vampires and such really a no-no at Church? If its fictional, plus the fact that its a parody of the horror genre, I don't see the problem.

Now, if it were a serious tactical board game called "How to Become Satan in 7 Turns or Less" I could see that as a game not to pull out that night

Your right. These games would not bother me a bit but they may bother some individuals (even the spoofs). In fact I would welcome some of these games at church (break the mold so to speak). I dont mind playing them with those friends from Church that I know well enough but I would not want to show up with a vampire spoof at a game night where I dont know the people all that well.

These kind of games are unusual for mainstream gamers who only buy their games from WalMart or ToysRus. So I simply purchased one that would kind of break the ice into new gaming territory for some(including my wife -- who now loves the Super Munchkin game). I have been a long time gamer and have trouble convincing my wife or others from Church to sit down and play some of my off games (Talisman, Dungeon Quest, Kings and Things, etc.) My old buddies still play but we dont get together all that often.

Thanks for the comment. Its a good subject "what do you think is acceptable gaming at a Church - other than Dominoes?" I bet you would get a lot of commentary.
