What is the best Friedemann Friese game, not counting Power Grid?

Thx

Asking "best" about anything is very difficult. If you go strictly by BGG ratings, it would have to be Fearsome Floors. He hasn't made that many games, check out:

and look at his games and decide for yourself!

My second favorite is Fresh Fish, but that's an incredible brain-burner. Great game, but you really need to concentrate in order to play well. If you want something a little less heavy, you could check out Fische Fluppen Frikadellen, which is a trading game which uniquely can handle up to 15 players (you need one copy of the game for every 5 players). Fearsome Floors is also good, particularly if you like the horror-inspired theme. Finally, if your group consists of both men and women with open attitudes toward sex, religion, and such, you might want to check out Fiese Freunde Fette Feten, which is screamingly funny and also a good and unique game. It's basically an adult (VERY adult) version of The Game of Life!

I own Funny Friends and Landlord, but I've heard nothing but praise for the design of Power Grid.

The two I own are cute, but hardly stellar works of art.

If you are trying FF's games you are looking for unusual theme and novel mechanics. Power Grid is unusual for his games in that it uses mostly familiar mechanics and has a dry theme (and the English name doesn't start with F!), and it is my favourite. I own Fearsome Floors, Fische Fluppen Frikadellen, and Fiese Freunde Fette Feten and find they are all liked and disliked by different people.

Fearsome Floors is the most accessible and would be my pick. It's almost a family game as everyone (apart from a conservative few)likes the artwork and components but the programming and sacrifice tactic can be elusive for the under 10's. It's fun and very light in gameplay.

FFFF is great for the theme. If you like black humour then buy it. If you don't see the funny side then don't buy it. Gameplay is quite different and is for a group of 5 or 6 and although the phone mechanic can be a bit confusing at first it plays smoothly.

Fische Fluppen Frikadellen requires more than one set to be bought and 6 or more players to really come into its own. With multiple sets there is a speed aspect which makes or breaks this game. You really have to try it to see if it is for you. I'm still undecided whether I really like it or not but it is certainly a novel experience.

I have played Landlord which is a fine card game but does not stand out from the pack.

Of course Power Grid is his best game ever, but here are my favorites in order

1. Fresh Fish. A little fiddly, but a great tile placement game. Lots of screwage.
2 Fearsome Floors. A total bloodbath, fun and fast
3. Formidable Foes. A cool dungeon crawl that is definitely underrated.
4. Fische Fluppen Frikadellen. Where else you gonna get three games and 10 people playing at once?
5. Funny Friends. Pretty funny stuff, game play is not to bad.
6. Frischfleisch. A game about cannibalism. Very cutthroat! vicious!
7. Turbo Taxi. Real time puzzle game, I'm no good at it, but a lot of friends have a good time playing it in my group.

Not to mention 15. FFF works best with 3 boards.

After powergrid I think Fearsome Floors is his best.
Fresh Fish is good as well, but only for gamers.

I like all the others but they all have something that doesnt quite work in them.

For example, Fische Fluppen Frikadellen is a cool concept but with 1 board its too fast (ends before it gets interesting) with 2 boards avoiding the slow players wins the game. With 3 its cool but you need 14 others who will play.

I found Funny Frineds only ok, one you got over the art and the humor the game was just Ehh..
I do however think 2f is one of the better eurogame producers around. the games are always a little quirky and fun and the artwork is top of the line.

Right now, I'd have to say Formidable Foes. A cunning little race game disguised as a dungeon game, Formidable Foes is a bit of wonderful whimsy. The dumbest player and master/student rules add a bit of built-in humor, and Maura Klasky's wonderful artwork sets just the right tone.

Ok, I bought Fearsome Floors. It's just great. Fun for players who have played board games before and also for newbies. It seems from the visual point of view as a simple light game, well it could be but it is also a game that requires lots of thought.

Currently thinking another of FF's games.....thinking especially about Formidable Foes.
