I've finished painting everything for Scythe, and am toying with the idea of finding/painting worker minis at an appropriate scale instead of using the meeples. Obviously they would have to be not too big so that they can cover the slots on the board. Does anyone have any ideas one ones that might work?

Thanks!

You would need 2 sets and maybe some paint, but it could be fun to use the plastic workers from Snowdonia in this game. I think that would mean using cubes (or the original meeples) on the player board, then switching out for the miniatures on the board.

For those not familiar with Snowdonia, here's what those miniatures look like:

And, they are available on the BGG store: http://boardgamegeekstore.com/products/snowdonia-figure-set

This would change the dynamic of the game incredibly ! As written in the rulebook :

"As a visual cue, all units made out of plastic can take part in combat. All units made out of wood cannot"

J/k lol

Thanks--you have made my day!

I went with these because there were many more varied poses, including of women, unlike Snowdonia. Plus it was cheaper (I've seen sets of 43 for under $10 on eBay)

I'll just ignore the wooden/plastic rule. :)

Wow. Yeah, those are gonna be really nice. Lots of cool poses, and a mix of figures. Please post when you paint them and they hit the table !

Currently $13.68 on Amazon, which is pretty good for all that you're getting.

The amount of detail on these are great, both for people that want to paint them, and for people that do not.

The IMEX Pioneer set also looks pretty good.

Oohhh, those ones are awesome! I prefer the Pilgrims over the Pioneers. Might have to get some of these.

Do note that the IMEX Pilgrims (avg. height 24 mm) and the IMEX American Pioneers (avg. height 26 mm) are slightly different scales. I was about to pick up one of each and combine them when I noticed the difference and decided against it. (Just the Pilgrims will have to do!)

Good observation. It's too late for me, as I bought both, but if they're close, maybe I'll just have one faction a bit taller due to hearty Northern genes or whatever.

Also for the shorter ones I might end up clipping off the hat brims on the men and using Green Stuff or Apoxie Sculpt to make their hats into taller fur hats anyways! The big question is what to do with the pigs and cows that come with the sets. Maybe they could be the faction animals for a custom character. :)

Animals are people too!

No? Not so much?

Maybe a horse could work a farm?

At any rate I'm sure you've got other games you could dress up.

PS: the fur hats thing sounds really cool.

And I just remembered that we have 2 more factions coming with the expansion. So maybe I'll pick up some Pioneers regardless of the small height difference...

Someone online combined both the Pioneer and Pilgrim women and men together before paintingand I don't see a glaring difference in size, so I might work. A few of them have larger heads, but it's not bad.

A nice photo of the Pilgrims...this looks like it would be great for Scythe.

Bit too Pilgrimy for me. I think I'll just stick with the meeples and mentally project that wonderful artwork of the farmers by Rozalski onto the meeples.

I think the women will be spot on after painting. Many even have the head covering.

I'm toying with what to do with the guys, but I do see that some of them resemble his art and others do not as much. Surprisingly the hats are more similar than what I thought. I've never been a big fan of mixing meeples and miniatures, so hopefully this will work out fine with a bit of paint!
