Does anyone know if there is an official rule for allowing characters to set a blaster for stun? I've looked and have not been able to find anything.

If not, I'm thinking I could use this Special Ability for 4-LOM, Droid Mercenary, as the foundation for a scenario Special Rule.

Stun Gas Replaces attacks: Adjacent living targets are considered activated this round and cannot make attacks of opportunity this turn; save 11 negates. Huge or larger characters ignore this effect.

Thoughts?

There aren't any rules for it. Technically, characters are "defeated" not "killed", so you could say that every blaster is set for stun and defeat just means incapacitated.

There's also the Special Ability "Jolt", which sort of seems like a stun bolt.

Thanks for the fast response! That's really helpful. You're right, Jolt is even closer to what I'm looking for than Stun Gas.

For easy reference for others…
Jolt: An enemy hit by this character's attack is considered activated this round; save 11. Huge and larger characters ignore this effect.

I think it's because that is a Star TREK thing, not a Star WARS thing.

Yeah, it's typically more of a Star Trek type of thing, but it is occasionally used in the Star Wars universe. The best example is the opening of A New Hope:

Here's the challenge I'm working on:
In the opening of The Force Awakens, the Stormtroopers descend on Tuanul, take most of the villagers prisoner, and escort them to a round up area. To recreate this scenario, it can be somewhat challenging for the First Order Player to get his characters adjacent to so many enemies in order to capture them. When doing a test run, one of the players observed, "Why wouldn't they just set their blasters for stun?" I thought I'd run a test with this being an available option.
