Ordered this game because Crypto usually does good work and R&M is awesome.

Was wondering if anyone who already has it has tried with playing more than 5 people? Akin to Werwolf/Mafia size groups.

The game gets easier with more people. Say you start with 6, theres 14 enemies on the board to start (starts balanced) but as with more people, you investigate and figure out more and more of who is parasite/who isnt and unless you kill a real person, only 1 is added each round so you'll eventually be able to whittle it down to only reals in 2-3 rounds tops.

Tl;dr more people will make it too easy

Basic mode might work with 6, but basic is extremely easy and is only meant to teach players the mechanics.

The Advanced mode doesn't work with 6 people at all. There are barely enough shots in the action cards to shoot all of the parasite character cards in a 5 player game as it is. It's actually easier with fewer people playing. In a 6 player game, the only way the Real team can win is if they get a Parasite team member to shoot the 4th real, or all the remaining Reals come out immediately and none of the Reals get shot.

You start with 2 characters in the center for each player in the game. A 6 player game means that 18 of 24 characters are out at the start of the game (12 in the center + 6 player = 18 characters), so there are only 6 turns remaining for the table to find and shoot the parasites, which comes out to ~36 cards. There is no room for error, and you can't afford to shoot player characters until the dinner table. In a 5 player game, there are 15 character cards to start and 9 turns for the players to find and shoot all the parasites, so ~45 action cards get played if no reals are killed, which leaves a tiny bit of room for error and just enough bullets to kill all of the parasites between the humans characters and center characters.
