I'm beginning to suspect that I've been playing Dungeoneer wrong all along, because of one sentence I just found under Special Actions in the v. 2.2 rules. I quote: -

"Activate a Readied Card: You may use the effect of a card in your Inventory, including your hero's special ability, if you have the resources required to fund it."

So, I pay glory once to ready a permanent boon or treasure and then pay again every time I use it? It's the paying again bit I haven't been doing.

Hold on! I think you were playing it correctly before. From the rules:

Quote:
A card that is played into your Inventory after having its Glory or Peril cost paid is then available for you to use and is said to be readied; a card in your hand has no effect in the game until readied.

Thus, once the card is in your inventory (and you payed its glory to get it there) it is readied and all bonuses apply free-of-charge.

I think that the rule you are citing refers specifically to cards that have a "cost" to use...for example, some hero specially abilities require you to pay glory each time you use them. There are some treasures (like elven bow) that also have a "cost", but usually this is in the form of tokens that you pay for in the initial glory cost, or are placed on the card as a consequence of that card's ability. To "pay" for these you simply remove the token already on the card.

Rich,

Thanks for taking out founder membership of the Andy's Not So Stupid Society. I can see the sense in your interpretation, but if that is what the rules mean, could they not say so more clearly?

The "if you have the resources required to fund it" part mainly applies to hero Special Abilities which usually need the player to pay some Glory to activate.
