There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary: Those who do, and those who don't.

I didn't see a post this week, and I found out yesterday that Garry had passed away.
You're falling down, people-- I rely on Chit-Chat for news so I don't have to watch or listen to the mainstreamm media.

My favorite Garry Marshall project was the movie, Young Doctors In Love 1982. Although was probably best known as the director of Pretty Woman (which I have never seen).

But his was truly a long and storied career in TV comedy.
He was a writer on:
1959–61 Tonight Starring Jack Paar
1961–64 The Danny Thomas Show
1961–65 The Joey Bishop Show
1961–66 The Dick Van Dyke Show
1962–68 The Lucy Show

and then came The Odd Couple, Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork & Mindy, and dozens of others.

Never saw Pretty Woman either. Odd Couple, Happy Days and L&S were a big part of me growing up though.

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

"Pretty Woman" is basically an updated, non-musical version of "My Fair Lady". A single, rich man (Richard Gere) hires a whore female escort (Julia Roberts), cleans her up and educates her on how to act in high society so he will have someone to accompany him to prestigious functions who won't embarrass him. Most of the humor comes from the girl being a "fish out of water" in fancy places. Of course they fall in love -- what do you expect from a rom-com?

It's a quarter-century old (came out in 1990), so it's rather dated now. Time for someone to remake it!
