I'm really interested in this game but I'm not sure how it will play? Wouldn't players just camp and couldn't you see if another mech has line of sight so you wouldn't cross into that path? Especially 1v1?

What do people think?

Hi camping has never been a problem as there's too much to do over the course of any mission.

This from the FAQ covers some of the mechanics that relate to this:

https://badcrowgames.zendesk.com/knowledge/articles/22345822...

Killing is sometimes one of the multiple objectives players are pursuing over the course of a mission and sometimes not.

There are many other strategic objectives like retrieval missions, salvage collection (with support troops) securing up-link points(support troops) escort missions, base destruction and more.

Lighter mechs have advantages to boosts and arial movement, which allows them to more easily hunt down the opponents' support troops, return retrieval objectives, quickly move to defend an ally or pursue a damaged opponent.

Most teams do well with a light and heavy, but other configurations are totally viable as well.

Also a few missions feature a FOB supply base, with mech respawns. Lighter mechs respawn faster than medium which respawn faster than heavy.

That being said, its often advantageous to have the biggest gun....

Thanks for this.

I guess I need to see the full play through first. Seems like objectives promote movement but wouldn't experienced people eventually know the paths or objectives people need to do so you try to get to certain "spots"?

Is there a pecking order on who gets to call hit or is it just who says it first? Eg if you already have line of sight vs someone who just moved to the hex? What happens if called simultaneously? Do you have to let go of your mini for it to be classified as a movement like in chess or can you still retract?

If you made the minis to have some sort of laser tag technology it may alleviate this ;p

LOL yah i suppose it would.

Strategic Spots: These are relatively fluid as players use support troops to access them, so its more about intercepting or defending those support troops that are trying to access them.

Also many missions utilize random hidden objective points (for retrieval and salvage collection objectives. those random points are sometimes mines and sometimes collection points. Players dont know until they get to them. Uplink points are static points as are bases, so its a mix of known and unknown; but there are so many points you cant cover them all.

This is starting to look like harassment on your part Trent.
I suppose you feel (or are) personally affected by these people, but there's no point in dragging this out all over BGG, in near every post related to this game.

Honestly, this is the first time I've looked on BGG for any kind of "report this post" button.

I can't find a "report" button either, but there is a "Moderators" link on the far right near the top of the page. In there, I found this user with "forum moderation" listed as his area of responsibility: https://boardgamegeek.com/user/asmiles

Might be worth getting his attention regarding the issue. You also have a "hide" button (and the drop-down lets you hide ALL of his posts), so that's a temporary workaround.

On a more relevant topic, though, it sounds like there are a few ways to manage camping issues. Simply taking advantage of objectives outside of the simple "splode everything" one, and also the fact that you CAN'T BE SHOT WHILE BOOSTING! (this was shown in the recently-released gameplay footage). If your boost range lets you cross from one covered location to another, guess who's not getting shot today?

There is, of course, the fact that you can immediately declare your own attack while getting shot yourself - the damage won't apply until the end of the round, so it's not like shooting "first" will stop you from shooting back.
